Follow-up after you fly home is provided by the clinic that treated you. What yours includes is set out in that clinic's own written offer, and it differs from clinic to clinic. GetClinic carries the follow-up between you and the clinic: it moves the messages, documents and images between you, and keeps them on your booking record.
Who provides your follow-up
Postoperative care and aftercare are on the clinic's exclusive-responsibility list in the Terms of Service §11, together with diagnosis, treatment planning, medical records, clinical outcomes and complications. Clinical aftercare is also part of the clinic's medical liability (Terms of Service §72).
GetClinic does not provide clinical aftercare, does not determine clinical urgency and does not make treatment decisions (Terms of Service §7). Using the marketplace does not create a doctor-patient relationship with GetClinic (Terms of Service §8).
In practice that means your follow-up questions are clinical questions for your clinic, even when you send them through GetClinic.
What GetClinic does
GetClinic is responsible for the technology and marketplace services it provides (Terms of Service §12). For follow-up, that means:
- relaying your messages, photographs and documents to the treating clinic;
- keeping the exchange in your booking record so it stays findable;
- routing a payment, refund or account problem to the right GetClinic team.
If a clinic stops responding to a reasonable request sent through the marketplace, that is a marketplace matter rather than a clinical one, and you can raise it through how to make a complaint.
Anything you upload for your treatment is transmitted to the clinic you engaged, and is not turned into advertising material. Uploading a medical photograph does not give GetClinic an advertising right to use it, and promotional use needs separate, specific permission. See your photos.
Find out what yours includes before you travel
Ask the clinic while you are still deciding, not after you land back home. The Booking Terms §5 require the clinic offer to identify material inclusions and material exclusions before you make a treatment-related payment, so the answer should be in writing in front of you.
Useful things to have in writing:
- who you contact after you go home, and through which channel;
- what remote review the clinic offers, and whether it is chargeable;
- what a revision or corrective procedure would involve;
- what the clinic expects you to do locally, such as removing sutures or having a scan.
GetClinic does not state what any clinic offer contains, because inclusions differ between clinics. Read your own offer, and ask about anything it does not answer.
Remote sessions with your clinic
Where your clinic offers a video review, it runs under the Teleconsultation & Meeting Platform Terms. Remote care has limits, and a clinic may require an in-person examination before it advises you (Teleconsultation Terms §7). A session does not by itself produce a diagnosis, a prescription or an approval.
Recording is off by default. If a paid session is involved, its own cancellation terms apply rather than the 72-hour deposit rule. More detail is in video consultations and online meetings.
Care where you live, and emergencies
Your treating clinic is abroad, so plan for the possibility that you also need to see someone locally. Ask your clinic for a written summary of the procedure, medications and any implant or device details, so a local clinician has something to work from. The clinic decides what medical information it holds and releases, and it keeps its own medical records independently of GetClinic.
If you think you are having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services or a healthcare provider immediately. Do not wait for a GetClinic message or a scheduled session. GetClinic is not an emergency medical service, and should not be relied on for urgent medical triage (Terms of Service §9).
Concerns that are not clinical, such as a booking, a payment or a clinic's conduct, go through the routes in how to make a complaint.
GetClinic is a technology marketplace. The clinic you choose provides your healthcare and is responsible for it. This is general information about how GetClinic works, not medical advice. Only the clinic's qualified healthcare professionals can decide what treatment is right for you.
