GetClinic provides the meeting technology. The clinic and its healthcare professionals provide any healthcare service that happens inside it. A session may be an introductory or coordination meeting, or it may be a medical teleconsultation, and which one it is depends on what is actually provided and on applicable law, not on the label shown in the interface.
A meeting with a doctor is not automatically a medical consultation
The Teleconsultation and Meeting Platform Terms draw the line by substance. A non-clinical meeting includes things like an introductory discussion, an explanation of the treatment process, scheduling, a package or price question, travel and logistics, document collection, interpreter coordination or administrative case coordination. A medical teleconsultation is where a qualified professional provides clinical assessment, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment planning, a discussion of risks and alternatives, or prescribing where that is lawful.
Substance controls. A session does not stop being a regulated medical service because it was called a meeting or an intro call, and the presence of a doctor does not make a purely administrative call clinical. Where remote healthcare is regulated by your location or the professional's location, the clinic is responsible for deciding whether it may lawfully go ahead.
What a session does not guarantee
A session does not guarantee that the clinic will accept you for treatment, confirm a procedure you discussed earlier, issue a prescription, give a final diagnosis, hold a quoted price, or decide that travel or treatment is appropriate. GetClinic does not guarantee that a session will produce a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, a prescription, a clinic offer, a medical approval or a booking.
Remote care has real limits. A professional may be unable to complete a physical examination, take vital signs, run imaging or laboratory tests, or notice something that would be obvious in the room. The clinic may decide that a remote consultation is not enough and require an in-person examination, further testing, records, photographs, imaging or local medical evaluation before making any clinical decision.
Scheduling a session also does not guarantee that a particular named professional will still be available, unless a transaction-specific record says so.
Recording, transcripts and AI features
Recording is off by default. GetClinic will not intentionally record the audio or video content of a medical teleconsultation without a lawful basis and any notice, consent, authorisation or permission the law requires, and accepting the session terms is not that permission. A recording feature is not enabled for a session unless the recording-law and professional-rule position has been cleared for the relevant jurisdictions and every required permission can be obtained and evidenced. Where the legal position is unknown, disputed or uncleared, recording stays disabled.
You and the clinic's participants must not record, screenshot or rebroadcast session content unless every permission the law and the clinic's rules require has been obtained. Clinical notes are a separate matter: the clinic may create notes or medical records as law permits or requires, and that is not the same as recording the session.
Where GetClinic makes live transcript translation available, the feature is powered by an artificial-intelligence service and the transcript text is processed for that purpose outside the EEA and the UK, currently in the United States. Every participant must be told before the session begins that an AI system will process what is said, and if that notice cannot be given the feature stays off. It does not create an audio or video recording, and the recording rules above still apply separately.
Free sessions, paid sessions and cancelling
Scheduling, joining or completing a free session does not create a payment obligation. GetClinic does not charge you separately for ordinary marketplace access or ordinary patient-clinic meeting technology.
Where a session is paid, the amount, currency, the nature of the charge, the payee, the payment route where applicable and the cancellation and no-show terms must be shown before you pay. A cancellation or no-show charge cannot be invented afterwards if it was not disclosed and lawfully applicable beforehand. A clinic consultation charge is the clinic's charge, not a GetClinic fee, and it is separate from a booking deposit.
One point catches people out: the 72-hour booking deposit rule in the Booking and Deposit Terms is not automatically the cancellation rule for a standalone consultation. A paid consultation uses the consultation's own cancellation and no-show terms, the ones displayed before you paid, subject to mandatory law. If the clinic cancels a paid consultation before providing it, the unused consultation charge must be refunded in full unless you voluntarily accept an alternative.
A session is not for an emergency
If you think you are having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services or a healthcare provider immediately. Do not wait for a GetClinic message or a scheduled session. GetClinic is not an emergency service and sessions are not intended for emergency triage or time-critical care. Raising a medical concern, and emergencies explains where everything else goes.
This is general information about how GetClinic works, not medical advice. GetClinic is a technology marketplace; the clinic you choose provides your healthcare and is responsible for it.
