Stay & travel
From inquiry to your 12-month review
Most patients fly home on day 3 or 4. Office work with a hat is fine after day 10; client-facing work most patients delay until day 14. Final result settles between months 9 and 12.
Day 0
Skin removed and muscles repaired under general anaesthesia; drains and a binder are placed.
Day 1
You walk slightly bent to protect the repair; soreness is significant but managed.
Day 7
Drains often removed and you can stand more upright; flying is usually advised only after this point.
Week 2
Return to light desk work; continue wearing the abdominal binder.
Week 6
Resume full exercise including core workouts.
Month 3
Swelling settles and the flatter contour becomes clear.
Month 12
Scar matures and fades and the final result is established.
The questions you'd ask a friend who'd already done it
When is it safe to fly home?
Because of clot risk, flying is usually advised from around day 7 to 10 with movement and good hydration.
How big is the scar?
The scar runs low across the bikini line and is long but designed to sit below underwear and fade over time.
Can I get pregnant afterwards?
Pregnancy is possible but may stretch the repair, so most surgeons advise completing your family first.
