Stay & travel
From inquiry to your 12-month review
Most patients fly home on day 3 or 4. Office work with a hat is fine after day 10; client-facing work most patients delay until day 14. Final result settles between months 9 and 12.
Pre-op
Counselling confirms the decision is permanent and consent is taken.
Procedure day
The vas tubes are sealed under local anaesthesia in about 15 to 30 minutes.
Day 1-2
Rest, supportive underwear and ice reduce swelling and bruising.
Day 3-7
Mild ache settles and light activity resumes; heavy lifting is avoided.
Week 1
Most men return to normal activity and work.
Week 8-12
A semen sample confirms no sperm remain before relying on it for contraception.

Is a vasectomy effective immediately?
No. Sperm can remain for weeks, so another contraception method is needed until a semen test confirms clearance.
Will it affect my sex drive or orgasm?
No. It does not change hormones, erections, sensation or the amount of fluid ejaculated; only sperm is absent.
Can a vasectomy be reversed?
It should be considered permanent; reversal is possible but complex and not always successful, so it is not guaranteed.
