Stay & travel
From inquiry to your 12-month review
Most patients fly home on day 3 or 4. Office work with a hat is fine after day 10; client-facing work most patients delay until day 14. Final result settles between months 9 and 12.
Booking & prep
Appointment booked; you are screened for metal implants and asked to remove all metal items.
Arrival & registration
Check in, change into a gown if needed and confirm the safety questionnaire.
Imaging
You lie on the table, which slides into the scanner, and stay still while images are captured.
Contrast (if needed)
If required, a contrast agent is injected through a vein to highlight specific tissues.
Doctor review
A radiologist reviews and interprets the images.
Results & report
A written report is sent to your referring doctor, usually within a few days.

Is an MRI safe?
Yes. It uses magnetic fields rather than radiation, but you must declare any metal implants, pacemaker or devices beforehand.
Will I be enclosed in the machine?
Many scans use a tunnel-shaped scanner. If you are claustrophobic, tell staff, as open or wider scanners and relaxation options may be available.
How long does it take?
Most MRI scans take between 20 and 60 minutes depending on the area being examined.
