Stay & travel
From inquiry to your 12-month review
Most patients fly home on day 3 or 4. Office work with a hat is fine after day 10; client-facing work most patients delay until day 14. Final result settles between months 9 and 12.
Pre-op (days before)
Staging scans, blood tests, anaesthetic review and fasting instructions are completed.
Surgery day
Prostate is removed under general anaesthesia; a urinary catheter is placed.
Days 1-2
Inpatient recovery with mobilisation, pain control and drain monitoring.
Discharge (day 2-4)
Most patients go home with the catheter still in place.
Day 7-14
Catheter is removed at a follow-up visit and pelvic floor exercises begin.
Week 4-6
Gradual return to light work and activity; heavy lifting still avoided.
Week 6 onward
PSA blood test confirms treatment success and guides ongoing surveillance.

Will I be able to control my urine afterwards?
Temporary leakage is common after catheter removal and usually improves over weeks to months with pelvic floor exercises; a minority have longer-term issues.
Does this surgery affect erections?
Erectile function can be affected because nerves run close to the prostate; nerve-sparing techniques help, and recovery varies by age and pre-operative function.
How long is the hospital stay?
Most patients stay in hospital between one and three nights depending on the surgical approach and recovery.
Will I still produce semen?
No. Removing the prostate and seminal vesicles means ejaculation no longer occurs, causing infertility, though orgasm sensation can remain.
