Fertility & IVF

IVF vs ICSI: which is right for you?

Standard IVF lets sperm fertilise the egg in a dish; ICSI injects a single sperm directly into each egg.

How IVF works

In conventional IVF, prepared sperm and eggs are combined and fertilisation happens competitively. It is the default when sperm parameters are normal.

How ICSI works

ICSI selects one sperm and injects it into the egg under a microscope — the answer to male-factor infertility, previous failed fertilisation or surgically retrieved sperm. Many clinics abroad include it at no extra cost.

Which to choose

Normal semen analysis → conventional IVF is usually enough; routine ICSI adds little. Male-factor issues or a prior fertilisation failure → ICSI clearly earns its keep.

Prices abroad

Accredited clinics abroad typically price both options 50–70% below Western European and UK rates, all-inclusive. Compare written quotes for both on GetClinic and discuss suitability in a free video consultation before booking either.
